Ο Joe Hill (Joel Emmanuel Hägglund) ήταν Σουηδός μετανάστης (πήγε στις ΗΠΑ το 1902, σε ηλικία 23 ετών). Ακτιβιστής του εργατικού κινήματος και τραγουδοποιός, έπεσε θύμα δικαστικής σκευωρίας. Εκτελέστηκε το Νοέμβιο του 1915. Έχουν γραφτεί πολλά τραγούδια στη μνήμη του.
